Cheap Carpeting for Your Home

You may want carpet that you install yourself when it comes to carpet for your home. Without having to spend a lot of money, there are ways that you can carpet a room very cheaply. It’s very important saving money on a tight budget because carpet can get very expensive in a hurry.

By using carpet samples you can get cheap carpeting for your home. As samples aren't considered to be used, you need to considered new carpet. You can buy samples of carpet for .25 cents a piece at closeout sales or at your local hardware or carpet store. How many samples you'll need will vary, depending on the size of the room you are looking to carpet.

You need to think about the resale value of your home, keep in mind that using samples or square is a very unusual style. The style is probably going to be unusual and cheap carpeting to start with if you have a trailer or mobile home. Then you may decide to use cheap carpeting in the basement, playroom, or in a children's playhouse if you have an expensive or mid priced home.

When you install carpet samples or squares in a room, the only things you'll actually need is a carpet knife and a staple gun. You can use carpet tape instead of staples if you are carpeting a basement floor. With either case, when padding isn't that important, this is best to do. If you don't mind the complications you can use padding as well, although without it, its pure simplicity.

Decide where each individual piece will go, you may also choose to lay out your pieces of carpet first. You can quickly and easily cut the pieces to fit when you reach walls, heating sources, or other obstacles. It will cost you around a dollar if you happen to make a mistake, instead of costing you a fortune. All you have to do is start over a new piece of carpet when you make a mistake.

You should always estimate how many pieces you will need before you begin to put the carpet down. The average is 18 X 18 inches although the samples will range in size at different stores. You'll find things to be much easier if you use pieces that are the same size.
